Picked up a steel toolbox for my truck. My current one just wasn't big enough anymore, so I got this off a friend at a decent price.
It needed a little work, but I think it turned out okay.

There were a few holes drilled in it (I think for a CB antenna). So I filled them and sanded the entire box. I didn't fix the dents...well, because it's a tool box, and it will probably get more dents anyway.

Looking good. Nice job! I need to get to doing stuff to my truck one of these days. Just been driving and using it.

Thanks,

And I know what you mean, this is the only thing I've done to it in 4 months besides use it for work. And technically it wasn't even part of the truck.

I would still really like to do the super duty spring swap with the reverse shackle up front. Just gotta start sneaking money away for it I guess. I think I need to do the front brakes first. Then maybe some other front end work. I inspected the brakes, and they look decent, but squeak like crazy when warmed up.

That's a good looking box! I'm pretty tired of only seeing diamond plate aluminum ones. I would like to have one like that on my truck.

Did you buy your headache rack or did you make it? I'm in the market for one, was thinking about making one.

I want to do the same to mine someday. But that's not gonna be anytime soon.

Yeah most people use the diamond plate aluminum. (I was one of those guys up until today)

The rack is the Safety Rack made by Backrack.

My brother went with a non diamond plate black box. I think that the different boxes look good on different trucks. For example I think that a regular box on my chevy Colorado would look funny but look right on my 88 F150. Truck looks good with that box on it.

I agree, it really depends on the color scheme of the truck. The black just looks out of place on some trucks, and perfect for others.

At least with mine being black/chrome I can kind of get away with using either one

Well, I almost made it a full year with a dent free truck. But due to today's hailstorm, it now has a lot of little dents on the hood and roof

I'm not sure exactly how many since it is filthy right now. But I counted at least 10 on the hood, and the roof has a lot more.

I haven't posted on here in awhile so I'll give you guys an update.

I got the dents from the hail fixed a few weeks after my last post by some PDR (paintless dent repair) guys that set up shop in my town after the storm. And I they said there was around 100 dents in it.

Steering box and shaft had to be replaced
And I put on some snow tires for the winter since my old Duratracs were about bald.

Glad to hear you got it smoothed out again. Hopefully insurance covered it

Thankfully my insurance company gave me more then enough to fix the damage, so it worked out good in the end.

We got about 30 inches of snow on 3/15/17, so I got push through snow up to the bumper for 24 hrs until our road finally got plowed.

Needless to say, I'm really glad I got the snow tires when I did
