X2 I served one term in the USAF and my wife retired from the USAF. My father and one uncle retired, another medical'd out and both grandfathers were in the USAF when it was still the Army Air Corp and retired also.

One thing that never gets mentioned enough is this;

Thanks to the wives and dependents who support us while we are busy doing our duty

Thanks, I'm a USMC vet, when I came home I was called a baby killer to my face and had rocks and bottles thrown at me, it's good to see things have turned around and my heart goes out to those who have served.

I think I was thanked more yesterday

More people made their way to me to thank me for my service yesterday than in the last 7 years that I have been out of the ARMY. It really makes a difference that the civilians in my life try their best to understand what we have given up. They may never get it but they show their appreciation nonetheless. Thanks again to my brothers and sisters in the armed forces and especially the ones still in harm's way. They ARE the strongest thread in the American Flag!
