I lost a key so I was going to get a $6 key fob from amazon and buy a blank key at the hardware store. Is there a transponder in my 2005 F250 key? It doesn't look like it, the black plastic part is really small and thin, but I don't know for sure.

 

My 2006 doesn't; it has a separate square fob for the rrmote stuff. My guess is the same would be true for your 2005

The Super Duties didn't get PATS until around 2008.

 

My 05 doesn't I just got a spare made at the hardware for $2.95. Starts the truck fine.
