Tire Deal of the Century

Just picked these up online at Pepboys - Hankook 265-75-16 winter tires - I paid $19.99 per tire!!!! With installation, tax and a 15% online discount the total for 4 tires was $180!!!.

I read a few reviews and they rated pretty well. Working on a bit of a budget and really didnt know how I was going to swing 4 new tires at $800 to $1000. Installation scheduled for this Tuesday - anyone have any experience with these?

That is a Hankook Dynapro I Pike rw07 tire with a 2601 lb load limit, and S speed rating at 112 mph with a max air pressure of 44 psi, and SL (standard load) rating. Basically B rated.

I guess I do not process your amazing interweb skillz. I went to the site and tries the same exact tires and only got a little discount, nothing close to what you said.

It's on the Pep boys site........look again. Those tires are too light for an Ex though even though Hankook claims they are for SUV's and light trucks.

For my usage should be fine - don't tow or haul and never cruise much faster than 65 mph. My current tires need replacement and really couldn't afford close to $1k for Goodrich ATs (my ideal choice) Averaging about 10k miles a year - even if I get 3 years out of these; I am way ahead at this price...

Standard load tires... This is not going to end well...

Any tire slinger worth his salt will refuse to install them when he sees the truck. Too much liability.

I just bought four E rated 285/75's recaps for $585 total with free shipping. If you want to get more frugal they sell blems for even less.

They are rated well above the MGVW and my typical usage - do you think I really have something to be concerned about if I run at near maximum inflation to better support the weight and monitor for any signs of trouble?

recaps/retreads only belong on semi's.
Wait until it detreads itself and it costs you 3 times what you paid for those tires.

Not sure what I'm missing - these tires (in this size) are in fact classified as suv/light truck and are rated for 2000 lbs more than I will ever have them loaded. Doesn't the load rating (2601 lbs per tire) mean anything?

I think for your application you'll be fine. Your EX weighs 8000# or a little less and the tires are rated for over 10,000#.
