Cruise control will not work or come on 2003 F250
I have a 2003, F250, 7.3, 6 speed manual, 4x4 that I just purchased and the cruise will not come on or work. What I have done so far:
I don't know how to test the switches and understand if what I am reading is normal?
I have yet to purchase a service manual or a scanner still trying to get over the purchase of this truck...... ouch!!!!
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
- checked all brake lights to make sure they are on and working, and yes the third stop light on cab is working
- checked the switch which has been repaired under the recall that is located on the master cylinder for continuity... yes
- horn works when pushed
- no air bag light while truck is running on instrument panel but illuminates when key is first turned on.
- I hold down the on/off button on steering wheel while pushing the other cruise buttons on steering wheel nothing happens, when I hold down on/off button and push the coast button the horn blows????? (is this normal)
- have pushed ALL the buttons on the steering wheel enough to wear them out.
- tested clock spring and have continuity between both ends
- get continuity across pin 5 and 6 when I push and hold on button and as soon as I release no continuity. Is the on/off switch a N.O. switch?? this is tested were the connection is under fuse cover.

The switch on the Master Cylinder is usually the culprit. But you say that has been replaced and has continuity. Double check it to make sure there is not a leak there. It may have continuity, but a leak can short it.
I do not think it is normal for the horn to blow when you press CC buttons. I would assume it is the steering wheel switches given how worn you say they are. Sorry, I do not know what the reading on the pins should be on those.

I installed a brand new ford OEM clock spring today and it did not fix the problem. I looked at the clutch switch and unplugged the 6 wire connector. The switch appears to be in very good physical condition but not sure how to test it since I have no wiring schematic. Any info would be appreciated.
