I Want His Mirrors!

Found this craigslist ad (pretty nice, wish I could get it)

But I noticed he has the same mirrors my truck is supposed to have and I'm really jealous. Anyone know where to score those 3-mount western mirrors?

Western Junior (West Coast) Mirrors with 3rd "steady rest" arm were part of the Camper Special package, optional on other 1967/72 F100/350's.

Be aware that these mirrors stick out well past the cab.

These and other types of outside mirrors were not factory installed, were placed inside the cab at final assembly. Dealers installed all the outside mirrors.

There's no pic of these 3rd steady rest arm mirrors in the parts catalog.

Here is a pic (upper) of the Western Junior "Swing-Lock" non Camper Special mirror:

Long time (since 1929) L/A truck dismantlers yard has quite a few of these 3rd steady rest arm mirrors wired to a chain link fence, but the problem is, are they 1967/72 or 1973/79?

The door contours are different 1967/72 vs 1973/79, so the mounting brackets are shaped differently.

There's no pic of the mirror, but it's listed in the text section.

They are great for towing or when you have a wide camper.

No more drive through car wash.

I can't count how many times, I hit my head on those dang mirrors after coming out from under the truck!

Which, I've since changed out a few yrs. ago with the 80's fold in & out type.
One x happy camper now.

Those are the mirrors I have currently, and they keep swiveling at 45+ mph. Luckily the PO left the old mirror bracket mounts (except one)

I had them on my old bronco the one side was a like a bobble head. Had to keep a piece of wood wedged under it so it wouldn't flop around the toothed swivel part was stripped out.

Aw yes if they were put on with out the inside bracing ford used then yes they will shake..
I went to Pnp with my tin snipes and cut the ford inside brackets out of the door upper & lower mounting threaded compression nuts.

Then trim to the size I wanted cleaned off all areas and used the glue body sealer to affix to the inside the door. They don't shake like at first test driving it. But new I'd have to reinforce them any way.

Those west coast mirrors have to many blind spots. I almost nailed a guy on a bike cycle at a 4 way stop and other time a VW when you don't see them and you both start at the same time and you can't see them due to the big *** mirror in you line of sight..
