rear axle bearings
If you are working with a pressed bearing and retainer, sometimes the parts store where you buy the new bearing will remove the old one and press in the new one. If not, you will need to find a machine shop with an arbor press. Ususally, your local "big truck" repair shop in the dirty part of the city can remove the old retainer and bearing and press the new ones in for a minimal fee since you already have the axles off.
I was in Pittsburgh (about 300 miles away from home) when I blew a wheel bearing. I went to a local CarQwest store, and there was a guy who did car restoration in line (customer). The store had the arbor press but no longer pressed or removed bearings, so this customer volunteered to take off the bearing and press the new one and retainer. He didn't even want anything for doing this (took about 3 minutes). I bought him a couple packs of smokes and he was happy.
