PO has shortened the frame by approximately a foot. I have read that the frame should be 17 feet. I have also seen that there are two cross members after the axle. I have only one. There is a hole 14 inches from the steel brad holding the one cross member I do have. Is this where the second frame cross member should go?

The rear cross member is about 19" back from the center of the rivet holding the second cross member. It's 27.5" from the center of the rivet to the back edge of the frame. You're right that the frame is 17' long. Stu

 

Thanks so much! That is exactly what I needed to know. It looks as if the second cross member is to help support the spare tire.
