f150 vs ranger for <$3500
Hi all -- I'm in the market for a truck, have never owned one before and very limited experience with mechanics so your advice is very appreciated!
I've started a small gardening business and haul loads up to 1000 lbs regularly, mostly on roads but also short distances onto people's yards.
We have long, snowy winters, so I figure that 4 wheel drive is important.
It will need to make one 1000 mi road trip as I move a few states over to be with my ladyfriend.
I can't afford more than $3500, preferably around $2500, so I figure I need to buy something older. I'm not that handy (yet!) nor knowledgeable, but so far I've figured that either a 90's f150 or ranger will be the truck for me.
Any advice between the two? What should I beware of and look for? And (bonus question!) what's all this excitement I hear about pre-'94 f150's?
