The dealer applied a transmission Technical service bulletin to the PCM/TCM (Powertrain control module and Transmission control module). I was told its a 'learning' transmission and the clunk would get better... NOT!

Sounds like the 'slip bump' issue would fix my truck as well. Great video and information.

Adios.
My 2009 f150 has the same issue ,and even after the software update it kept doing it , I wouldnt worry about it

all of our 2010's at work have this slip bump, most either don't notice or don't care so nothing is getting done about it (including mine).

any harm done if the slip bump never gets addressed?
It would just be more wear on the drivetrain but noting detrimental at all.

Does this problem affect the 2013's?

I have a "harsh" shift from 1st to 2nd when accelerating slow and a lag when rolling below 10mph when I accelerate like when I am in stop/go traffic.

Hold on a second....

Shouldn't the splines get lubricated by the trans oil in the first place?

And won't all that grease get washed out by the trans oil and just end up inside the transmission? I sure don't want chunks of grease clogging my transmission.

I'd recommend having your dealership inspect your truck, SBV45. Additionally, you may want to take your tech along for a test drive to demonstrate what you're experiencing. About how many miles do you have on it?

7047.1 Taking it in today.

Fast forward to now:

I took it in. The shop manager was familiar with the problem. I have the one piece drive shaft. The shop manager drove my truck and reproduced the problem right away. The problem was fixed with a PCM/TCM software upgrade.

I was told that the problem was compounded by changing from 20" wheels to 18"wheels. I had the change done previously at their shop and apparently they didn't do the system adjustment when the wheels were changed.

I have a 6 speed with the select shift feature. (Put in M and use +/- button to shift gears). When driving along and slow down to under 10 mph, the trans will stay in 3rd gear. When you accelerate however slight the trans would suddenly drop to 1st and you get a harsh bump.

That's all fixed now.

Slip Bump

Hi Folks,
Took mine in to the dealer last week for this problem, there is not a service bulletin for the 1 piece,my service advisor went for a ride with me and felt it and took care of the problem,he said it was quite dry in the female end of the spline they cleaned it out and Lubed it with the Teflon Grease that it calls for, this goes into the Transfer Case and does not get lubrication from the transfer case, unlike a Automatic Transmission that lubricates the splines any rate problem Gone,I will IM Crystal the infro about it,Thanks All

I've got the same thing I've noticed on mine. 2011 XTR 3.5 4x4. From 1st to 2nd or 10-30 mph it basically jerks forward when making the shift. It's the only time I notice it and is most harsh in stop and go traffic. When I give it gas there's less bump.

Will be lumping this in with next service appointment at the end of the month. I'm not too worried just yet. Stay tuned...

I'll keep an eye on this thread, CavsQB15; be sure to let us know what you hear from your dealer. What's the current mileage on the truck?

53000 on it right now and just got it used recently. I've heard the transmission has a bit of a learning curve to it so I'm not stressing out just yet. I'll keep you updated.

I had the slip bump issue. I bought the Ford teflon grease and it stopped for about 2k miles and now it's back again. Both times I pulled my driveshaft, the splines have atf on them from the transfer case and it will drip atf out the tail of the transfer case.

Slip Bump

My 2010 did it too the dealer fixed it once maybe 2 years ago but I think it is coming back. Not yet too annoying though. I may have to do it myself now as I have 38K on the truck.

Excellent video! Here's a question, I'm a VERY sensitive driver (unfortunately!) so I feel everything going on. Could I possibly be feeling a little bit of this slippage as I drive down a bumpy highway? I feel "something" that seems characteristic in how Ford F150s drive on the highway. It's not something bad, but I can feel something that's not a vibration. I drive a 2014 XLT, and have felt it in a few other 2014's and in my friends 2013 XLT.
