1990 F350 Glow plug relay question

Hi all
Been lurking on this forum for quite some time and I'm having a problem with my ford truck. Actually its only happened once but I want to make sure I'm on the right track. I went to start the truck yesterday and the glow plug light didn't light it was clicking and truck wouldn't start
I took the air filter off and used my rubber mallet and smacked the relay a couple times not real hard but when I tried to start it fired up like normal.
Was that just a coincidence or could my relay be sticking. I really don't know this system I had this truck given to me about a year ago and have never had a diesel before and this truck has been maintained very well.
Thanks

welcome to FTE.
it sounds like the relay ground may be a little loose, and whomping it with the mallet made the connection good again.

a better place to ask questions on your truck would be the pre powerstroke diesel forums a little down the page in the diesel engines section.

Thanks for the reply I will check the wires better. Also thanks for the forum tip. I'm not only unfamiliar with my truck but I'm also unfamiliar with the layout of the forum.
Thanks

we all were newbies at one time or another, and need a little push in the proper direction to get going.
