2015 CCSB 6.2. 4.30s - Nowhere to be found

I am looking to buy a new truck and just talked to my local dealer yesterday. He said that right now there isn't a single new 2015 F250 or F350 CCSB with the 6.2 and the 4.30 gears in the country. That seemed really strange to me, but I believe that he would have at least tried to ship one in to sell me if he could have found one. Has anyone seen such a truck sitting a dealer lot? I think that I would like the 6.2L engine in my new truck, but only if I can get it with the 4.30s so I am not bumping up against my max tow rating with the family in the truck and a 11k toy hauler.

Does anybody have any thoughts? Is there any chance at all that I might be able to talk a dealer into selling me a diesel for gasser money, or at least close?

I find it odd that all of the gassers are coming with the 3.73 gears, but maybe others are more concerned with fuel mileage than towing capacity??

Only one way to find out... shop around. You might be surprised if you're a patient person, and are willing/able to walk out on a dealer, if you don't have the deal you want in front of you. Most times, the 6.2 4.30 gears are impossible to find. Especially in the trim, and options desired. Most guys will order their truck.

Order one! I did and it's MY truck.
If you can stick with an XLT you can get over 3400 lbs payload.

I just bought a 2015 F250XLT CCLB with a 6.2. It has the 3.73s. 4.30s are all special order. And good luck getting the diesel at the gasser price. In the end, its almost $10k more for the diesel. In fact, I originally ordered a diesel, but the price tag was just too much for what I'm using the truck for. Then again, a close friend of mine bought his 2013 Cummins CCLB brand new for $38k so there are lucky ones out there.

In regards to the gearing, I pulled my 5000# buggy and trailer up a crazy steep hill in my truck with no hesitation at all. I then turned around and went down hill with it. In tow haul I never went over 10mph. Never hit the brakes and I wasn't in the "M" mode. Just thought I'd give you an idea on how well it towed my rig.

Order it the way you want it.
Ford would be more than happy to build another truck!
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the price of a truck on the lot would be the same as a truck ordered, unless the dealer is desperate to unload the truck on the lot due to bad color, bad options, etc.

That's the way it worked for me. I had a truck on order because CCLB are a bitch to find in something other than white. But yea, same price if I were to build it or buy it from the lot. Though, are you going to be able to wait the 8+ weeks for it to come in? By day three I was going nuts. I was fortunate to find the exact truck I ordered, with the 6.2 instead of the 6.7 I originally ordered (in the end, the 6.2 just made more sense) minus two things. One was the gearing. I ordered 4.30s but the truck on the lot had 3.73s, I wasn't too concerned over that since I'll be woting under 10k. And the second was the remote start which I had installed.

I got thousands more off my 6.7 compared to a similar 6.2. Some guys are hung up with the 8k cost, but it seems most dealers will deal more with the diesel...

Some of them have to deal down on diesels because that's all they have.

Most dealers are clueless and only order 3.73s in gassers. Then they BS the customer and tell them mpg is so much worse with the 4.30s and that you want the 3.73s. Or they push you towards the diesel. A new truck is not chump change, don't settle for what you don't want. A gear change is $2k+.

Try building the truck on Fords website you want. Then at the end search for matching trucks in your area. Worst case, order one. It is not uncommon for lazy dealers to lie just so you buy the crap they have on the lot. Don't be afraid to leave and look elsewhere.(what I did)

Eh, my 96 has 4.10s. I got tired of driving at 55mph. I'm sure that's all changed by now I'm sure. What are the RPMs like past 60 anyways with 4.30s? I would think the 4.30s would tach out at a much lower speeds than the 3.73s.

If I did my math right-
the stock tire rotates 602.012 times per mile
6th gear is .67 to 1 overdrive
At 70 mph with 3.73 gear, RPMs is 1755
At 70 mph with 4.30 gear, RPMs is 2023
I have 3.73 gears and kind of wished I ordered 4:30
Even though the RPMs are up 268, I would think the engine lugging vs taking it easy, the gas mileage would still suck the same.

Wow, that's not bad at all.

My 96 is at like 4000RPM at 55/60 with the 4.10s.

Oh well. I'm fine with the 3.73s. It lugged my 4x4 and trailer without issue. That's what matters most to me. I was thinking there would be a much bigger difference in RPMs.

A screen shot looks better than copy/paste as the formatting screws up the columns.

Back in 96 the overdrive might not have been as extreme as it is now. Plus we have 2 overdrive gears.

Your 96' is not really relevent to my comments, different engines. The 99'up is what I was referring too, where you are looking at running around 2250 rpm at 65mph with 4.30s in OD on the older SDs. Newer trucks are even less rpm due to OD ratio and tire size.

Sounds like you are not getting into overdrive and/or you have TQ lockup issues. Overdrive ratio on the E4OD is .71.
