55 F100 Build

Starting a build thread for my youngest son. Dragged this "55" out of the woods where it's sat since 1972. Not great, but I've started with less. Son pulled the hood off last night before I could take pic's. It will be probably what you would call a "darksider" Something similar to the Stallone truck in the Expendables. Paid $350 w/ matching vin title. No rust around drip rail and in better shape than it looks.
Lot of research to do and many questions to ask, but I'll try to find as many answers first before asking.

Looks like a great project.

You have the wrong month set in your camera.

I was wondering how you took pictures a month into the future. That would be a great way to see your progress.

Fixed the camera date, but not till after son took some more pic's. We got it in the garage, no small task as all four wheels are locked up. Did manage to get the bed off today, no rust problems with frame.

Looks like it'll be a fun project! Not to jump on you right as you got your new truck, but I've got some of the little parts I noticed you're missing if you would like.

Looks good! My dad and I are building a '55 as well. Are inspiration also came from the Stallone ride from the Expendables! Were gonna do matte black on matte black. Keep us updated.

Im definetily going to follow this. Seems like a great deal on the truck. I just picked up a 55 last month for a lot more that that and its not in much better shape.

Stripped

Well, son and friends got the "55" broke down. Did a lot of research and reading this week and he's came up with a plan. Took me longer to read than it took them to tear it down. Must be nice to be young and eager.
Due to it being his first project, decided on more of an "old school" build. He's a fine welder, both MIG and TIG but will need some practice on sheet metal.
1) 351W
2) AOD tranny
3) 9" w/3:73 gears
4) Power Disc Brakes, Power Steering
5) 3" suspension drop retaining the front axle
Now the real work begins. I'll start sourcing parts and pick them up as he can afford it. Now if I could only get them in the habit of cleaning up the garage when finished for the day.
