Currently I have a 03 F250 with the 6.0, thinking about moving into a F350 with the 6.7 liter. I have to say that this move is a WANT and not a NEED. I maybe in the minority but I have not had any major issues with my 6.0 w/160k.

After reading DrT's thread on tangling with a semi, I can see the benefits of side air bags and a beefier truck.

I am reading the 15 have more hp's and other goodies. Are there any particular years I should lean too? Also do the engines need to be baby sat like the 6.0. Currently have a Scan Guarge II to monitor the engine. Is this need with the 6.7?

If you can swing a 2015, get one.

 

Don't know if it will be in the cards. Something about buying a vehicle that cost more than your house.

power and it's worth it.

 

I've got a early 2011 with 135,000 miles, Just normal maintenance kind of stuff. Brakes, front bearings, oil changes etc. I think any year of the 6.7 should be fine if you find a good deal. Of course there is always the chance of that one lemon truck, So check oasis and see if it's been in for any warranty or major service work.

I do have the Edge Insight in my truck and have used it to clear a code when my exhaust sensor went bad. So I think some kind of scanner is a good thing to have in any modern vehicle. But I have not had to watch it closely while driving.

 

If I totalled mine the next time I drive it, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another gen 1

 

My 2013 has been very good. I am still a person who checks all fluids weekly and at fuel stops when towing I still pop the hood and do a visual.

 

I've got 73,000 miles on my Gen 1 2011 F350, I wish I would have waited but I was too anxious. I would get the 2013-2015 and absolutely avoid 11 &12, don't take a risk that we a know exists.

Honestly I would get the 2014 or wait until 2016, the new turbo and fuel pump sound great ....... just as great as they did in 2010 when a lot of us bought them.

 

What risks are those?

I'm looking to move from my 7.3 to a 6.7 so I am starting my education.

Thoughts on the 2014 F-350? I've found a low mileage(under 15k) one, that is within my budget. And my CFO says "you need something bigger to pull this trailer".

Ditto the above and double on the tranny they could never fix my shifting "flare ups" and missed to non up shifting. Once I tuned it, it magically started working properly. Sadly Ford couldn't figure it out but a tuner company did and Ford STILL couldn't fix it. A friend at work has the 12 and they still can't fix his.

Then front stabilizer and the death wobble, yes on my stock Mich tires.

The turbo failures have been an issue, actually don't know if 2013's are fixed, but haven't heard as much anymore.

The HPFP some would say is a debacle, just ask someone that had it fail and see if Ford stepped up!
Many, many people now use fuel additives every fill up.

 

I would buy what you can afford. If you can afford a 15, that's great, but I do believe that a 13 or 14 at a significant enough discount is worth it.

 

Mine told me new truck or new camper. I heard bigger truck means big 5th wheel.
