Cool but not Coolaid

put a deposit down on another clubwagon this evening, a non running 2005. imported here in 2005 so actually I'm buying it off the original Canadian owner.

it is a 2005 Chateau E350 with a 6.0 diesel...........................................

go ahead and bash me all you want. its been sitting for a year when it died. and owner decide to sell it. has aprox 100,000 miles on it, new highpressure oil pump out in at 90,000 and change. owner had a $3300 bill for the job and could not afford to spend that again so he left it in his driveway.

I plan to put 2 good batteries in it and have a buddy that works at the local Ford dealer go over it. if it is repairable with out major expense I'll fix and drive, and if not I have a 2003 E350 cargo with the 7.3 with around 150,000miles on it ready in the wings.

it isn't perfect but looks like it hasn't seen much Ontario winter, so paint is still good on it.

price does not matter, I spend a lot of time on the internet searching after work and this time it has paid off.
my wife is slightly pissed at me but we will make a family day trip out of it when we pick it up, so everything will work out just fine.

I feel a little bad for the seller, but he is pretty happy I will make good use of it instead of parting it out , so everybody is happy.

cheers to the koolaid

You're amassing a collection of vehicles---no wonder that wife is pissed!

I'm more curious where all these are parked?

Wow.

This is getting to the point where you stand up and introduce yourself and admit you have a problem.............

Our mere presence here is testament to that fact Sir!

We had another member collecting IDI diesel vans of the 80's era----not heard from him in a while but he did have quite a herd in his back yard.........

I have "only two" at the moment, can't bring myself to actively market and sell the unused one---I guess I too have a problem?

I begin to understand the attraction, I am about as goofy about my van as a boy is about the first girl he gets to kiss. Ridiculous, but I love the damn thing. I do stuff like step back and look at it, and groove on it, when I leave it somewhere (and no one is watching). Ridiculous.

Felt the same way about my first girlfriend too----as cool as vans are nothing beats a hottie in a little white tank top............

Besides I'll bet it was a smitten guy who first invented vans.........

well I dragged an 86 E150 ext with a raised roof on Friday nite, only bought it for a mobile storage receptacle. runs/drives/stops(kind of LOL) and interior was stripped to the skin by previous owner who was going to rebuild the camping guts but realized he was in over his head. $400 well spent, now I can strip/scrounge/cut up 2 maybe 3 of my parts vans. more space and dry storage too. cube vans were just too expensive for my budget.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
today I went and looked at a 1988 E350 diesel dually for sale but the guy wouldn't give me a price over the phone, I drove more than 2 hours with the idea it was worth maybe 1500, as it has sat for 3-4years since licenced.

looked it over and got it started but couldn't keep it running, 7.3 idi w/hypermax turbo, and unfortunately a C6 not an E4OD. he said his bottom line was $1200
told him I wasn't interested as it didn't have a lot of parts I was hoping to find on it........................................
he wanted an offer and I figured it had to be worth $600 for scrap so I offered it. he wasn't sure but said he would take it if I wasn't just going to scrap it.

so next weekend I have to go down and bring it home, will have to remove the outer duals so my trailer lites aren't covered up.

found a bunch of references/labels for ambulance package, that would explain the short wheelbase.

driving home tonite I had ideas popping up in my head to make my 89 diesel clubwagon into a dually with the parts I scrounge off it
