what do you do for motivation?

We all have our own ways of getting motivated and staying motivated. I would like this thread to be what you do, specifically or just in general, to stay motivated on your project. Ill go first. Currently my truck is not running and has a dead battery. I hook up the jumper cables then my wife and I sit I the truck with the radio on and pretend we are out on a cruise. Sounds kinda juvenile, but it helps me visualize how fun It will be to actually cruise with my wife!

Utility. My truck can't stay down for too long because I depend on it for projects and helping out friends.

I do it for a living so spending my weekend working on my truck is tough, I just try to see it all done the way I want it and it gives me the drive to go the extra step or push

I clear my calendar so I don't have to be anywhere, see anyone, or visited by anybody.

A steady flow of new or new-to-me parts also keeps me going.

... as does flipping through the magazine archive library.

My condolence as well.

My motivation though..... I'm just the person that starts a project and has to finish it and do it right. I have witnessed too many guys with that half started project buried in a field or some derelict garage. My favorite line when I try to take one of these projects off someones hands is "nah, I'm saving that! I'll get to it some day. I refuse to be that guy.

Wow Dave you certainly have had your share of trials and loss. You have my deepest condolences as well. As for motivation, I know what my trucks looked like new and what they look like now. And it's depressing. Then I look at trucks like turbohunter's 74 F100, or NBC Steve's Candy Cane, and I know I can make mine look like that someday too.

I'm a task and project guy. I'll plan out a project and get all the parts I will need then allocate the time to do it. While I'm doing the project I will listen to all my favorite tunes (Usually tunes from the same era as my truck) and then I will post my progress here. This way all my FTE pals will keep me motivated.
