391 Ford
Hi, I've searched the threads, Dunno if I just didn't search enough. But anyway! I have a 391 V8 out of an F600, And I have a 3/4 ton 72 ford truck. I just want to make a hauler out of this truck. Would this engine fit without any modification to Motor mounts? Any info helps, Thanks!~

You didn't search enough.
No.
OK, that was the short answer. Look at your 391. You should see the front cover incorporates an engine mount. The bell housing also has mounts on each side. Your F250 motor mounts via side mounts.
The FT block should still have the side mount holes to which the stock mounts can be bolted.
Not sure if the front cover will interfere with anything, but note the crank snout is larger. You will have to run the accessory drives from the F600 with that crank snout, or try to adapt a different pulley set up.
You can swap your F250 bell to the FT block. Clutch and flywheel and pilot bearing will need to be sorted out. The FT has a much larger flywheel and clutch, so you may have starter issues swapping bells. I read FT motors are externally balanced also, so your F250 flywheel could make a paint shaker out of it. I know this has been done, but I would have to search it out. Can't do that right now, but I'll try later.
Meanwhile, stand by, you may get another response which will clarify that point and others.

i put a 391 in my 66 f100 it was a torque monster deluxe with my 4.10 gears but alas thats what lead to its downfall those motors are designed for lower Rpm's and when you have to spin 3000 rpm just to maintain 65 mph it eats fuel and the fact i went well over that point on an almost daily basis didn't help it....... you can use FE mounts and it will bolt right in.....i used my 352 bell, clutch, starter, and flywheel with no vibration (who knows i might have just been lucky) but i did have to have a new pilot shaft bearing made and since no parts house carries anything close i had a local machinist make me one same ID as an FE same OD as FT (it cost $20)..... another thing through trial and error i found out that a 90's model powerstroke has the right radiator hose for the top side....... now for the hardest part exhaust.... on the FT head between 2-3 and 6-7 there are some additional exhaust ports which if you can use the FT exhaust it has no problems but i know i couldn't use it in my 66 so chances are you won't be able to either so what i did is i just had them brazed them up but this is just for if you want to use the stock FT set up...... but what i would recommend personally would be if you want better performance and power swap the FT heads AND intake for an FE set of heads and intake the two cannot be used interchangeably FT head must be with FT intake, FE can only be with FE but once you get down to the block it all swaps with zero change......even the crappiest heads from an emmisioned 360 will outperform the FT heads the ports and valve size on the FT head is ridiculously small but it is important that you continue to use the FT distributor due to the fact that FE and FT use different size oil pump drive rods...... and this is just the beginning if you need any more info i can supply all you need to know
