I just checked with a local shop here in El Cajon and they quoted me $79 for a rear window in light gray tint with tempered glass. $99 if you want laminated glass.
Admiral Glass, 346 S. Johnson at El Cajon Blvd. No need to drive down here right away, it takes a few days to make since the tempering is done in LA. I have a customer who needs one and I have another guy who wants one as well so I will be placing an order today for two. If you want one I can order it today and let you know when it comes in. I am ordering one in light gray tint and another in the stock green tint...let me know if you want one and whether you really want clear or you want the light green shade.
I eventually will be tinting it dark so clear would be fine I guess....let me get back to you on getting one though. Need clearance from the CO! What would be the pickup location?
I'm am in El Cajon near Parkway Plaza. Just curious, why buy clear glass if you are going to tint it? Why not get the glass with the tint IN the glass? There are many shades and intensities available if you know what you want.
Bobs F100 quoted me $85 for clear. But then again a trip down to SD isn't a bad idea. Whats the glass shop you found it at?
IF it's who I think it is; you might want to read up on Bob's F100 before doing any business with them. I think that at least one thread on this forum was so "hot" that it was deleted. CharlieLED gets my vote.
Just my thoughts.. If I'm wrong, feel free to set me straight. I've not had dealings with Bob's.
I did read about Bobs on this forum and it was not too positive....but since I nearly drive past it on my way home from work I decided to check it out one day. Since I've been in there 4 or 5 times and thought they were professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I end up talking with them for an hour or two each time. They have even printed off how-to articles for me without me even asking. All of that and I haven't really spent a lot of $ there. And I'm NOT trying to dig up the ol' Bobs posts...we have all read it. This has just been my experience.
I also wonder about the glass size question. A picture would answer that. Not worked up, just curious. I bought all my glass locally made from original patterns. I bought all the glass for my 40 from a place in CA, can't recall the name right now, but it fit perfectly. Owners name is Mike, but can't remember business name. Mid-fifty will for sure have the correct size.
