there was an old movie from the 80's 'red dawn' in which an F15 Eagle pilot (played by powers boothe in his ww3 phase) called himself 'an eagle driver', which is something that pilots do. there was a book about the SR71 called 'sled driver' (the plane was nicknamed the sled). At the point I selected this user name, way back on AOL when it came on a 3.5 inch disk and was version 2.1 I selected 'quaddriver' as I 'piloted' quads, aka ATVs aka 4 wheelers (and 3 wheelers back in the day). 41 years and counting...
In fact, my user id may be oldest continuous in use email address on the planet. 21 years and counting. I even own the domain and its my copyright. (GM owes me BIG money I feel)
If you see that username on the web its either me, or someone I have not hit with a cease and desist order as of yet (or the very least a takedown order)
(my id on AA's site easy sabre may be 3 years older BUT, Im not sure easy sabre is any longer accessible)

Lots of different meanings and good to know everyone's reasons.
Mine started back when LAN games we popular, I would play a racing game and one time my brother and I were switching vehicles in the game and one of us was 'mesmall' driving a mini and the other was 'mebig' driving a hummer. Then I switched to a race car and changed the name to 'mefast.' The name has stuck: its easy to remember, fast to type and usually available on new forums, etc. Also nowadays I'm always trying to make my car a little faster.
