Whats a good stereo on the cheap to replace

Whats a good stereo on the cheap to replace the stock stereo in my 2000 Ford F250 super duty? Not looking for some killer deafening stereo that would make your heart skip a beat just look to make it better than stock but on a budget.

Do you mainly listen to over the air radio, streaming music, connected MP3 player, BT, or CD's. Are hands free phone features a consideration?

Digital, mechless decks have come way down in price.

Replacement door speakers will make a noticeable improvement, even with a stock deck.

I listen to cd's and mp3/ipod. Thinking about a 4" tall stereo to fill up the dash, but would like to hear what people think. What would you recommend for door speakers?

At my local Walmart they have Kicker dsc686"x8" 2 coaxial speakers (200 watts peak) for $64.92 and kicker dsc693 6"x9" 2 3 way speakers (360 watts peak) for $74.92. Anybody have any thoughts on these?

There will be as many answers, as there are people that post here.

Infinity 6832cf's are great, affordable replacement speakers. They respond well to stock/aftermarket decks, whether they're pushed by an amplifier, or not. These are in a lot of Super Duty's.

Any decent single DIN aftermarket deck will have better sound quality, and features over an older factory unit. In my work truck I have the above speakers, a $100 JVC deck, and a narrow cubby above the deck to hold pens, and stuff. This is similar to the unit in my work truck, and has worked out great. You can get something more affordable, but you'll typically lose Bluetooth functions, which really is convenient.

Expect another $20-$40 for install accys on top of the other hardware, depending on where you buy your gear.

I guess that is what I am looking for to see what other people are doing. I will admit straight up I am car stereo dumb....lol....Never really paid attention to the stuff. So that being said I don't know much about amps and what stereo to use with it or what speakers match up and so on. So if anyone can give this dumb **** a dumbed down version of stereos and what to match with them that would be great!

My controversial opinion is to stay with the stock radio. If its in-op, get another OEM from eBay or Craigslist. To my untrained ears they sound better and offer much better ergonomics.

I have the Kenwood double-din (that's the 4" tall you speak of) model without navigation.

DDX271- sirius/XM, pandora, lets you put a backup camera to it
DDX371- adds blue tooth for your phone
DDX471HD- adds over the air HD FM radio if you listen to that
