Just a thought, mine has the vanity mirrors on the visors and the passenger side likes to stay on.

Do you happen to have dual batteries without an isolator switch to disconnect one of them when sitting? My first van, a 1973 flatnose Ford Turtle Top, had the dual battery setup and with both batteries connected in parallel, they would discharge one another while sitting.

That's my only guess at this point. More info would be needed if you don't have dual batteries...

I bought my '73 Turtle Top van many years ago from a guy at work who inherited it from his parents. He and his wife had just put in new batteries and assumed something was wrong because the batteries kept discharging.

With dual batteries, you need to disconnect one somehow while the van is sitting--you can connect it while driving to charge up both batteries. They make automatic isolator switches (probably look at a camper store or online), or you could just buy a manual on/off switch and put it in the cable to the 2nd battery and disconnect the 2nd battery while the van is sitting.

As I said, dual batteries which are hooked together in parallel will, while sitting, discharge each other due to some kind of electrical principle....nothing more to understand than this---trust me.

Of course, you could have some other charging system problem, but if you aren't disconnecting the 2nd battery while the van sits, there is your problem. Turtle Top was really a cheezy conversion company that didn't seem to think out many issues very well with their conversions.

I've had 2 Turtle Top vans--the '73 Ford and an '86 GMC (the latter had only an icebox and no dual batteries). The tops will eventually sink and crack, and turn the headliners into mold pits as well.
