2009-2012 6F35 6 Speed Transmission LH Axle Seal Leak Repair

This is a very common failure that most times goes unnoticed until the transmission starts acting up from low fluid level. When these fail they can really tear up the transmission bad enough the fluid is just pouring out and that is where it gets expensive. In this video I show you step by step what is causing all of this and just how to fix it. Even if you don't plan on attempting this repair it is good to know what to keep an eye on as potential failures. Hope this helps.

Great video and tips! Thanks!

I think the only issue I would have on doing it is getting the old bushing out.

Need help on the proper part number for the repair kit that has the improved-finish LH inner CV stub shaft.

Motorcraft TX682 comes up on the dealer's system, but no info on it, can't get.

Motorcraft TX585 is available, and I have seen it listed elsewhere, seems readily available, but it is not the number you spec'd out. I don't want to buy a replacement stub kit and have it be the original design!

Hopefully it has enough showing to catch with an ID puller/slap hammer?

Question...since I have the same tranny (I think) in my MKC would this occur? I am thinking not since it is a 2015 model year?

No 2013 and newer 6f35 is totally redesigned and does not have this issue anymore.

Thanks! Do you know if that crosses to the Motorcraft TX-585?

I spent some time on the Motorcraft website, using their part # interchange guide.

What I found out was that:

AL8Z-3B414-A equates to Motorcraft TX-585

AL8Z-3B414-B equates to Motorcraft TX-682

With the "B" version selected (TX682), I chose the Ford dealer that I had talked with previously, and the Motorcraft website showed it for $62 there, probably list price.
But when I was at the dealership last week, he couldn't get TX682 to do anything useful, though it did recognize Motorcraft TX682 as a valid number. So maybe in Ford's part system, they only really know it as the AL8Z-3B414-B? Which doesn't make sense, as you had previously ID'd it as the TX682.

I guess if I just get the Ford "B" suffix, then I should be getting the new improved part as you mentioned.

The Ford part system had no trouble finding the Motorcraft TX585.

I followed this TSB from the start and back then I had access to Ford's Oasis system. The problem was a poor surface finish that chewing up the bushing and seal. The TSB was superseded several times.

Where did you come up with the "improved" part? Or why/how does this not happen any more? If so, why did it take Ford so long to solve the problem?

Part# TX-682 or Ford Part# AL8Z-3B414-B is the kit to get.
