Probably have to tear the engine down to determine what crank it has.

I have heard that these applications have a forged crank, but cannot confirm.
There aren't many forged cranks used in Ford engines, as they aren't really needed. Ford knew how to make a cast crank that was stronger than most GM forged units......

drop the pan and rotate her over till you can check for casting flash, etc. you can also do a search on the forged crank part numbers that will be on the outer facing surface of one of the crank throws.

Contrary to popular belief NOT ALL industrial engines or heavy duty engines have forged cranks. Earlier ones did but in the early 70s Ford found forged wasn't needed and moved away from forged. Existing stocks got used up - sometimes whenever cast crank supplies got critically low - and most later HD and industrials got cast.

Unless you are building a really high performance engine a cast crank will work fine. One of my (lesser HP) drag cars has a cast crank and has over 2000 runs on it and I've never even pulled the pan.

A forged crank has a part # C6TE-6303-G or C5TE - 6303-F.

Pick it up Wednesday... will know for sure and post up... its a lotto ticket until I check the crank number... seller didn't want to hassle dropping the pan and reduced the price... motor has 436 hours on it.. I'm looking at it strictly as a base for a builder...made the deal over the phone
Want to build a turbo version for the f600 4 x 4 fire truck resto
Frenchtown flyer... love you pushing the envelope !
