Thumbs up How Great is Your F150!

I met several F150 owners today almost everywhere I went. Old one, new ones, in between ones! They ALL had glowing things to say about thier trucks!

One guy has over 250K on one truck. He said it has never let him down. Another guy said his neihbor has gone thru 3 dodges while he has kept his F150. He said it is too good to trade!

Mine is only 2 weeks old, but I already love it more than I ever did my Ram. Any neat stories for this new guy??

How Great is Your F150!

BIlltheCat,

I am also a new F150 owner. Bought mine on April 16th, 2003. I was driving a 1989 toyota truck with 249k. I loved the Toyota, but after driving the F150, I wonder how I drove that vehicle so long.

The F150 is so comfortable, drives straight as an arrow and feels capable in every way. I was leary about buying the Ford but I was tired of the Toyota run around on price. The Ford dealer treated me right.

The initial build quality is near perfect. I have not been back to the dealer. Changed the oil at a local Goodyear dealer and I am set for another 3k.

There are some engineering quirks that I might change but in general I find the vehicle satisfying to own and drive.

I just bought a set of Weston step bars. I hope to install this weekend.

I hope the short term smitten will turn into a long term love affair. I do know that I have learned a lot from this forum. Racerguy especially.

Welcome...

Absolutely! I bought my F150 Brand new an month or so ago, I have always bled blue, but my wife was the one to convince me into the purchase. Boy am I glad I did. I have just updated my gallery, you can see the additions I have made.

Lately I went on a road trip across the country when I went on leave. I started in Fort Hood and drove to Lovell, Wyo. From there to Chester, MT. From Chester, MT to Sheldon, ILL. And From Sheldon back to Hood. Almost 5000 miles and 16 days later, I still love the heck out of that truck. Not only a great ride, but my F150 is the easiest thing to change the oil in I have ever owned. I do all the maintenance on everything I own. People tend to give more respect on the road when you are in an awesome truck too!

If you wan to toot the F150 Horn, I hear ya man!

I can't begin to tell you all of the good stories I have about F-150s. It was my first new vehicle in 1976 and I have owned so many since, I can't remember them all. I will tell you this, the one with the most miles had 311,000 when the speedometer quit. I kept it another 18 months. I have never sent one to the boneyard. I have always sold them and seen them driven quite some time after I have sold them. They are tough as nails.

How Great is Your F150!

Here's one for the true-BLUE ford fans! Being a chevy guy all my
life(38yr.)I set out to buy my first truck,an ex-cab silerado with my
brother(paint&body man of 8yrs.) in mid 2000. I must have driven
at least10 chevys at 5 dealers,no luck,because of price(20k-25k)
OR they had been on a frame machine(wrecked-bad).The last
dealership(CHAMPION CHEVEROLET in Austin Tx.had me test drive
used silverados all under 18k mi.All 3 had been on a frame machine! I was very upset having to go though the paperwork
for each one, just to bring it back because"they did'nt know it had
been wrecked".I told them I was done here, buh-bye! She said
wait!We have one more truck!,It's not a chevy, but it's got aV-8,
EX-CAB,6-DISK-CD,TOW & ALL POWER AND 19,500mi only 2yr.old!
I said"how much?" She said $16.500.( That's 2k less)."It's the
tan FORD. My heart sank,So I test-drove it,it seemed ok,but it
was'nt a chevy. My brother(also a chevy guy) told me it was good for the price. It took me 2weeks to like this truck and even less
to love it! I have logged 75k.mi. in 3yrs. with not even one prob.
All I've done is breaks, oil and tires. I am no longer a chevy guy.
How many ford trucks do you see in the shop or broke-down???
Hummm?? We won't EVEN go there DODGE!-chefonray1@aol

I have owned 4 trucks prior (3 Chev's and 1 Dodge) to my current '97 F150 4x4 Offroad Lariat 4.6 AT SuperCab, I have owned it one week and so far I love it. The 4.6 could have more towing nads, but I still am impressed by how smooth it runs and it has plenty enough beans for the unloaded truck (98% of my driving), but the thing drives like a million bucks, truck #6 will likely be another F150.

I'm a big driver. I have a 97 F-150 with the 4.6 liter. Not the most power in the world. Its got the captain seats. All I've done to it is put in some new speakers, add a shell, and put carpet and insulat ethe shell.

I love this truck. I cant believe I got around with it before. Its now got 176,000 miles and runs like new. Hell, I've been offered 9000 for a FORD with 176,000 miles! You can drive it for 6 hours without a back ache!

I don't understand how people say a Ford is not a good car, becuase I used to apprentice in an auto shop, and I never once in 1 year saw an F-150 broken down.

I just purchase my F 150 Supercrew about 3 months ago. Have to say after owning a Toyota ( which was great for ten years and 150K miles) and a Dakota (which fell apart at 90k and 4 years) this is the smoothest ride of the three. 4 of my co-workers own F150s and have not heard a wrong thing yet from them so I thought I would try it out. Solid so far at a whopping 6k :-)

I love mine. I use to drive a 93 explorer 4wd. i could get that thing stuck in just about anything. we hunt alot down here in texas and that suv just doesn't have enough room for all the gear. when i purchased my f150 we could load that thing up with just about anything. took it out last weekend, the roads were pretty wet and slick, alot of mud holes everywhere. but for the 2wd 4.6 it did just fine, alot better than i expected. the engine performs great, i have a transmission problem right now that i am trying to figure out before i take take it to the shop, but over all, i love it.

I really like how everyone who walks by my truck just has to stop to look at it. I went outside and opened all 4 doors and that got 6 people from the neihborhood outside!

The leather really is nice. Wife says almost too nice for me! But I think she is jealous! and I just lovfe the bright Ford red color!

F-150's are one of the best trucks known to man....My 2wd 97 F-150 has 107,000 miles on it and i use it in fields alot even though it is two wheel drive and alot of gravel roads and that baby is great...I have been through a few sets of tires though lol.

My 97 F-150 4x4 is great also...Nice smooth ride and with only 70,000 miles on it...Still rides new..

How Great is Your F150!

History lesson:

1970 Dodge Challenger (Brakes kept failing)
1969 Datsun Pickup (Transmission @ 42,000 miles)
1975 Toytoa Corona (Rings & transmission @ 112,000 miles)
1986 Dodge Lancer (Head gasket at 28,000 miles)
1990 Eagle Premier (Paint fell off, windows quit working, etc 60k)
1993 GMC Sonoma (three transmissions in 38,000 miles)
1998 Ford F150 4.6L (never a problem in 54,000 miles)
2000 Ford F150 5.4L (never a problem in 47,000 miles)
2002 Ford F150 7700 5.4L (Perfect condition @ 13,000 miles)

I'm unlucky with other brands, or lucky with Fords, or Ford is building a great product. I will continue to buy Fords.

Nate.....Sounds like you have had good luck with your Fords. The real pleasure comes when you get one up there with a ton of miles on it. Something in excess of 200k, then you can really feel the satisfaction
