Super Duty Axle Swap, Which Years?

if I am looking at doing a Super Duty rear axle conversion for my 94' F350, what years are the best to use? I know I will have to do some fabrication work with the spring perches and emergency brake, etc.

I'd like to get as new as possible with out having to do that much fabrication work. At what year range does it become more difficult to do?

I don't know anything about the swap but am just curious why? What do you gain by the swap?

Rear discs, better stopping power. Regearing my rear without paying a shop a crazy amount for the work. Beefier rear helps increase towing capacity, especially with the better braking.

Somewhere about two years or so ago there was a thread on doing the swap. A friend of mine did it to his truck and spent quite a bit of money at the machine shop for the hubs i believe. Spring perches had to be redone to as the 10.5 is wider than ours. At the end of the day there was very little difference in braking ability but he did end up with disc brakes on his truck.

Have you thought about just swapping in a 10.25 with lower gears instead? You would have a simple swap then with no hassles!

I am well aware of the complications of doing the modification. A friend and I will chop the spring perches off and relocate them to the proper area.and with a hydroboost setup, this will definitely be old better braking ability for the truck. Not to mention, I plan on doing a 4 wheel drive conversion, and when I do, I'll do it with a coil sprung super duty front axle and not a Dana 60 from the older trucks, so I won't need custom hubs

The spring perches are the Exact width as the OBS So it pretty much BOLTS RIGHT IN. You can change the yoke to a 10.25 yolk and retain your driveshaft.

E-brake cables I am not sure
