94 Flareside Tailgate...

WHY is it so hard to find a tailgate for my 94 Flareside???...I've searched every salvage yard in the San Antonio,San Marcos, and Austin Texas area..Not one of them has one in stock.Mine was already missing when I bought the truck last year...Are they really all that rare???...Any ideas anyone???..Thanks,Bryce

Ford didn't sell that many Flaresides… I sold one in the six years I sold new Fords.

Here is the CL ad for it. I looked at this truck about a month back. The tailgate was strait from what I can remember. Give him a call or send him a text.

My search is over!!!!...I was able to find one in Dallas,so I made the trip yesterday to pick it up....I probably could have searched a little more around the Dallas area, but searching on Craigslist,I was able to find one being parted out.I contacted the guy,saw some pics of it by text messaging, and was able to pick it up along with all of the hinges, cables, latches and etc. for $75.00--(plus fuel and a trip To Gas Monkey Bar & Grill and the actual Garage--bought souvenirs as well)... The tailgate needs a little bodywork and a color match, but all in all a good find, and no rust..Thanks everyone for the help, especially EVAN P and SPKTYR...This is a great forum to be associated with!!!

Good!

I keep hearing that Flaresides are rare, and they seem to be in terms of what's on the road even here. If you look in the junkyards here, though - you'd think they wouldn't be. There's a LOT of them in junkyards here. Maybe they all come here to die?

For future reference, the national PickNPull chain has their nationwide inventory up on their website at PickNPull.com - but no pictures. They have the same listings but with most of them having pictures at row52.com. There is also car-part.com and their nationwide junkyard search, though they're usually a lot more expensive.
