New Truck Delimma

I am in the immediate market for a new truck. I don't need one, I just want one. I currently have a 2006 F260 King Ranch 6.0L and just hit 100K miles. It's been a good truck and is all stock, but if I were to keep it, I would put the EGR delete, oil cooler, etc. While it still has some resale value, I want to sell it and get a new one.

The big question: Do I get a 2015 F250 now or wait until details on the 2016 are released? I would hate to drop $60K on a 2015 and then almost immediately have it be an outdated body style. I have searched all over the internet and have not found any specific supporting evidence that the 2016 will be a complete redesign, but have found suggestions that it will.

Any thoughts?

I saw some pics of a camouflaged 2017 superduty and the report said it had an aluminum body.

I think you already answered your question, sounds like you would rather hold out for the newer model. I think mechanically it won't change too much, but who knows cosmetically. Anyway, I guess it boils down to what you prefer, i've heard a lot of speculation on the 2016's. If your current truck is fine, wait a little longer, can't hurt anything.

From my understanding, 2016MY will be the new truck - but I wouldn't expect it to be onsale till Sept 2015.

Personally, I would either wait for a 2016 or go for a 2014 as the prices start to come down. 2015 is kind of an awkward model year since it's the first of a new generation of the 6.7 (sort of) and supposedly the year before a major redesign.

I've seen the new model in person. It's is worth the wait. The interior is a lot better and the exterior is very nice as well, although I wasn't a fan of the front grill/headlights. The finally redid the entire exterior instead of just tweaking some body panels. I would wait for sure.

I was told today by a diesel mechanic that has worked for Ford a long time, that Ford Super Duty models will soon change to a straight 6 cylinder engine. How much truth do you all think there is to this?

BigRed- I just purchased my 2014 F250 Ultimate Lariat package knowing the exterior might change soon being the F150 changes next year. And having heard the straight six rumor around here as well, I still purhcased. I had a 2012 Ram Hemi Express model with aproximately 80K miles on it. I drive quite a bit and by previous bad experiences with Rams exceeding 100K miles I decided not to wait. Granted I have been a fan of the F250 for a long time and was ready to spend. My Dad had a 2004 F250 and after 180K miles it was just money after money to try and fix it. It doesn't sound like you're having trouble with your current F250, if you have the patience, I would wait. :-)

I most certainly couldn't wait. Good luck!!

Waiting is difficult. The 2015 apparently has some great improvements. If I was in the market, I wouldn't wait but I like the 2015's.

So it looks like I have a buyer for my current truck. I think I will sell it while I have a buyer and then buy an interim vehicle with cash until I figure out what I want to do.

When do you guys anticipate that Ford will release (or leak) information/real pictures on the 2016s?

And Wizness, how did you manage to see a 2016 first hand?
