That's a nice looking plow truck Russ. But I bet it's just a little under powered with the 302. That is assuming it's a stock 302. And X2 on keeping that shtuff (that's not a typo) up there. Way tooo early for that. X2 also on the 50/50 sunlight and darkness seasons as well. I bet that does take some getting accustomed to.

Haha Thanks guys I'll be happy to keep it! Made some money for Vegas doing that plowing, seeing as how I'll be there next week for SEMA it's perfect timing.
The old plow truck does well, with the plow and ballast weight in the back it does struggle keeping speed on the hills driving. I plow in 4-Low and never needed more power in that instance. That old truck has moved A LOT of snow over the years. Yes the 302 is all stock and not very impressive but it does heat up quick!
The sunlight/darkness doesn't bother me, but I'm born and raised with it. So when I travel it throws me for a loop if it gets dark in the summer or how it stays light longer in the winter. In the spring and fall we hit a short period of time that we have a "Normal" amount of daylight and darkness.
Currently we are loosing 5:40 mins of daylight every day. Today the Sunrise is at 9:05AM and Sunset at 6:22PM.
So today I loaded 240lbs of sand bags in the F-150 for winter, Last winter I ran an extra 120lbs I'm going to use those two extra bags for the plow truck. Yesterday I had top drive the '56 down to our house for winter, why I always wait until it snows I'll never know because it's absolutely nerve racking driving it on glare ice/snow pack. Now it's back to tight parking in the garage for winter.
This was before I cleaned the Olds off and put it in the garage to melt off overnight. We put it back in the container, which I didn't want to do but we never did find a decent place to keep it inside.

Russ you can keep all that snow and ice! But I say that knowing that winter will be in Pittsburgh soon enough. I use wooden pallets for ballast in the bed of my truck during the winter since I can get them from work. I'm planning on grabbing a stack in the next couple weeks. I've already coated the under carriage with Fluid Film to prep it for winter. I hate winter!

Luckily no salt (or very little) so don't have that to deal with.
I made it home from SEMA, Holy Crap what an event! My first time going and I had not walked that much (12 miles a day) in a longggggg time so it was exhausting. In typical fashion Vegas took all my money. I did get to watch the Cubs win.
When I got home the first day I had to run my truck through the car wash as it was filthy. It was warm the whole time I was gone so most of the snow is gone.
Not my photo but a great shot of Anchorage from a Alaska Airlines flight.
Some from Vegas

hey russ, so in areas that it snows, if you personally own a plow truck or whatever, you can plow public streets if you want to? if so (looked like you were a few posts up, unless that was your driveway lol) that's pretty cool that people volunteer their on time and labor (money essentially) to do so.

I think it all depends on local laws. Here it's a gray area, you're not supposed to cross the road when pushing into a pile..ect. None of the photos above was I plowing a road just driving. My dead end road is very low on the plow list for the city, so between me and 3 other guys on my road with plows we keep it clear just incase there is an emergency and police/fire/ems needed to get in.
Now during some deep storms (20"+ of snow) I'll plow a path in residential roads I happen to be on, just to give cars a chance.
