79 bronco 4x4 front brakes seized up...
Trying to get this beast up and going again after siting sense 2003... Got the engine going strong, Now i need to get it moving.
So i jacked one side up and the wheel wouldn't spin, So i took the tire off and found out the brakes are seized on the rotor, So do i need to take off the caliper to get it free? Tho looks like it will be tough sense they are really tight on there.
But wanted to see what you guys say before i try to take it off.
I would try and move the truck under its own power which might un seized them by doing that, But i really don't want it to take off and find out the brakes don't work and were its at it wouldn't be safe at all... Its holding fluid and there's no leaks but the brake pedal does go to the floor when running, And its harder when the engine is off.
Thanks

You should be able to free up the brakes by placing a large screwdriver or pry bar between the brake pad and the caliper piston and prying it out. Just go slow. And most likely the calipers need rebuilding/replacing. And while you have it that far apart I would suggest checking /repacking wheel bearings since it has sat so long.
