Sold but not forgotten
The first vehicle I ever owned was a 1987 F150.
I bought it back in December 2012, I wanted a truck but a little over a grand doesn't buy you a brand new powerstroke, so the '87 was the first and only truck I looked at, I liked the rusty hood, the chrome mirrors, the smokers windows, the cassette deck, the red interior.
With only 249k miles it was the best $1400 I ever spent.
She wasn't exactly mint so I had to fix quite a few things on her in 1 1/2 years
Battery
Tires
IAC valve
Plugs
Dist cap
Radiator
Brake lines
Oil pan
Exhaust
I don't regret spending a single penny.
While I occasionally made her do some work,
The vast majority of the time she was just hauling my *** to and fro.
The funnest was last winter, I didn't put any weight in the back like you should on a 2wd, so donuts in the snow were always cheap entertainment.
This past month the transmission started slipping, and with gas prices on the rise I decided it'd be best to let go and I sold her for $950
So now I've got a little honda civic 5 speed, but once I'm done with college you guys can be sure I'll be getting another old Ford.

I have owned a ford since getting my drivers permit. I saved up on all my odd jobs, delivering news papers, pumping gas after school, cleaning poop at a pet store, then the time came. Mom co-signed 1986 f-350 4X4 6.9 diesel, 4 speed with the granny low. then came the 97 dodge 3500 xtra cab dually 5.9 p-pumped diesel. that lasted about a 2 years than my 99 f-350 7.3 PSD still my daily driver with over 250,000 on the clock. the funny thing is my friends son bought my 86 and is restoring it, he loves it, 2nd owner, stick shift, truck has 325,000 and he drives it every day to and from work, so I still get to see my baby from time to time. still got the window sticker from her. those were the days trucks were only driven by contractors and there was no such thing as home depot, channel or rickles and two guy's remember them, that enough I gotta go.

And don't worry I wouldn't feel bad, I still remember half of you guys saying you'd show up in dodge "trucks"

I'm just busting *****... There was a really good deal on a dodge on CL... 97 half ton with a 318 and a 5 speed, 95k miles, only wanted 3k for it, I would've bought it if it was in my price range.
Although it's been a pain to learn stick on this little civic, can't imagine it being any easier on a pickup truck

* Update *
I just got a letter in the mail informing me that the new owner abandoned the truck, and it's been in a tow lot since August 7th.
That means he had it for about 3 weeks.
My stepdad and I think he used it to haul stolen cargo, and then abandoned it before he got it registered.
If that's true I'm pissed, although the tow lot is auctioning it off in 2 weeks and part of me wants to buy it back and fix it up.
But maybe with the upcoming winter it'd probably be more wise to get a 4x4.
