I don't think this is a lot of rust. I think it looks pretty good, but I don't have a lot to compare to.

Based on what you've seen, how would these pictures rate on a scale of 1-10, 10 being in really good shape. Please let me know if you notice anything that looks like it would need attention.

RE: rust, what is the best way to keep it under control?

Thanks

By any standard, that rust doesn't rate any concern. You could paint any clean rusted surface with Hammerite, if you like, but unless you're moving to the rust belt, I would leave it alone. That looks like the underside of many 13 year old trucks with 100-200K miles, and better than many.

That doesn't look bad at all. Keep it washed under there. Looks like there is some residue in one of the pictures (salt?). A trip to the undercoater or possibly a WD-40 soak down wouldn't hurt.

Looks pretty normal to me.
However, if you really must have that rust free look....
POR15 i believe is the name. Just brush off the loose rust, spray on and it will bond with the rust and protect it from getting worse. Looks flat black when dry.
Kinda pricey tho... At least to me.
