Used forum several times and always found answer to my problem. Ran HPOP low on oil 2 times and had to tow home. Have new O-rings and have non-serviceable plug on order. Will install all when it is delivered. HPOP is full of oil but it will not run right. Died again and had to tow home only 2 blocks this time. A little over quarter tank of fuel. Got started again a little bit ago but wouldn't hardly go over 2200 RPM's. Would get to about 2200 RPM's with a steady foot on throttle and RPM's would drop to about 2000 and recover to 2200. When foot taken off throttle would almost die but then would roughly idle. Can anybody help with suggestions
Add some more fuel. The pickup tube may have broken off allowing air to get into the fuel. It's a cheap diagnosis and you will be adding more fuel later anyway
What do you mean ran the HPOP low on oil? The HPOP oil is the same as the engine oil, so was the engine low on oil or just the HPOP reservoir? How low is low?
Only low in the HPOP resevoir. It was down maybe 1and a half inches. When I added oil it ran fine until it went low again. That is why I ordered the o-ring replacement kit for the HPOP
Oil was low after sitting for a while or stalled while driving? LPOP is supposed to be pumping oil into the HPOP reservoir when the engine is running or cranking.
Play with the hpop all you want but you won't fix anything. Start concentrating on the LPOP
I agree. On the obs trucks there is a relief valve in the oil pressure housing. Idk if the Superdutys have this or not but in the obs's if it comes out the oil will go straight to the pan. Although I've never heard of it happening without the filter being removed

What you're referring to was an issue with the early OBS trucks where the valve was staked in place. I believe late in the OBS run it switched to a snap ring holding it in place. The super duty uses the snap ring too. I've never heard of one of those falling out, but I still stick my finger in the hole to check every time I change my oil. Old habits I guess.
An HPOP oil an inch down from the top? Normal. As for the truck starting after adding the oil, it's more likely your fuel settled "within reach" of the pickup tube and not being sloshed around. I would urge you to fill up the fuel tank, not the HPOP tank... then let us know what that did for you.
