2002 F-350 Triton 5.4 V8 Performance

Just starting to want to add more horsepower to my 2002 F-350 Triton 5.4 V8. Does anyone have any suggestions to what is good to add more horsepower to my engine? I havent really found much due to the fact only 7% of F-350's made that year had the triton 5.4 V8 in it.

Sell it and get a diesel , There is not really anything that is going to give you enough of a boost to make you happy if you are not. Now with that being said you could regear which is what I did but I was pretty happy with mine before that..

Getting rid of my truck is out of the question. It was my grandfathers. Later down the road im gonna swap the motor out for a diesel but it still has alot of life left in the motor. Just want to build it up till then. Just dont really know whats out there for it. ive looked and didnt find much. thought someone from here would have some options

If you look at my Sig you will see I have pretty much done everything that can be done and quite honestly the only thing that really helped was the regear to 4:30's, I also think I got a little boost from the SPD Y-pipe and that was pretty cheap to do. Also you didn't say what size tires you are running , if they are bigger than stock that can really cut your seat of the pants feel as well. Keep in mind the 5.4 loves to Rev and that where it make its power. Mine consistently sees 4000 rpm when pulling..

I agree with big pipes, you gotta give it some gas to get it to get up and go.

im running 33 in Mastercraft Courser MXT tires. And a spectra performance air filter but no aftermarket intake. i also have 3.73 gears. yeah i have noticed it gets up to speed at higher rpm's. Would putting different sparkplugs do anything? or programmer if they make one for my truck?

The 33 inch tires are hurting you a bit, they do make a programmer for your truck as I have one and while they do help with the shift firmness I really didn't feel any power increase. If you have the money to pop for gears I would do it if not let her Rev till you do the diesel swap..

stock size tires were 31's. i didnt think it would make that much of a difference. the programmers ive looked at there around $350. Not worth it if theres not really any power added. how much roughly would gears be?

Programmers and tuning won't do much for power gains on a 2V engine. Your best option is a re-gear to as bigpipes35 said 4:30's. A re-gear can run into the 1,000.00 range for both axles.

31" tires and 3.73 gears weren't the best either. 4.30's were the best. The 33" are killing it. With the 33" I'd go with 4.56's. Headers, new Y, free flowing muffler. Then get a tuner matched for the mods.

I'm the same as big pipes, I've done all kinds of mods to my 5.4 powered F350 and the ONLY thing that helped was gears. I'm running 33" tires with 4.30 gears and honestly I wish I went to 4.56 gears...... I want 35's under my truck but I refuse to spend the money again for gears and second I don’t want to hate the motor with 4.30/35" tire combo so I'm sticking to 33's

You know, a diesel swap in your truck would cure all of your woes SDS...
