transmission dipstick/ground cable -block bolt
I have lost the bolt that ties the transmission dipstick and ground cable to the back of the engine block. I called the dealer and they do not have a good illustration of the bolt and couldn't give me a size. Does anyone know what size bolt I need to get ahold of?

i have extracted 2 auto transmissions from two of my trucks (one for a part out, one for a ZF5 swap). i wouldnt be able to pick the bolt out of my can of misc truck hardware, but if you can post a picture where on the engine it goes to, i could find the hole and figure out the screw for you. then, PM me your address and i'll mail you the bolt!

Its said its the same size, tread and such, as the other transmission to engine bolts. I can't remember what size that is off the top of my head. I know I tried to find / make a different length bolt to go in there to no avail. That was the single most time consuming part of my exhaust install. The head of the bolt was larger than any hardware store bolt of the same thread / pitch. IIRC

I believe so. I think the original was shorter, but I am pretty sure the bolt I used came out of my spare VC bolt stash. It just takes a little longer to screw it in because it has more threads, and it is pretty tight against the firewall. I had to get a pry bar and bend the heat shield toward the cab a little to get the clearance I needed to line up the bolt.
