EGR insufficient flow code showing
I am sorry I posted in a wrong format. I am new and am not familiar with all this yet.
I have a 2002 F-150 that is showing a code indicating "EGR insufficient flow". I replaced the EGR valve and cleared the light/code, but the "check engine light" keeps coming back on and code indicates the same problem. Any suggestions on what may be causing the light to keep coming on, even after replacing the EGR valve?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Actually you can save yourself a lot of money and if you have the big style DPFE Oreillys sells it boxed as a Borg Warner brand for $47.00. Its the new style black plastic and it is a OEM one. Evidently Borg Warner makes the OEM or the other way around. Its even got the FXXX factory Ford number on it.

I had the same problem with my 98 Expedition. Last year I replaced the EGR valve, EGR sensor and reset the codes. The light still came back on. Being ignorant I got fed up and took it in to the dealership. $1000 later the check enging light was off. I have to say at this point that they replaced many other things they thought were worn out.
A week before I had to get the inspection done this year the CEL came back on with the same codes, "EGR Flow Insufficient". My friend. I was not going to take it back to the dealership again after last year. I took off the EGR Valve and cleaned it and made sure all the hoses were clear to the EGR sensor. I put it all back together, reset the codes and completed the drive cycle. The light came back on.
I slept on it for a day and looked at all the places the EGR tenticles led. My last resort was to look at the EGR ports that led to the throttle body. I took of the throttle body, for the first time ever and the ports were caked shut with carbon build up. I cleaned them with an old riffle cleaning wire brush, reset the codes and the light has not come back on for a few days now. You may want to try this before buying a new sensor. I would much rather spend the 2 hours it took to clean the ports that lead into the throttle body then to pay the dealership a few hundred dollars to do the same thing.
Only do it if you are confortable with it thought.
