I've been dragging my feet on replacing tires and paid the price yesterday.

Do 285/75/16 tires fit under the spare tire cover?

That definitely help speed up the decision making process.

Happy Canada Day from 1 Canuck to another.

I put new tires/rims on my Ex last week. I went with Michelin LT MS2 Green-X on 18x9 rims. The tires are 275/65r18. I towed about 400kms (240 miles) this weekend, and it was TERRIFIC. Such an amazing difference over the stock 265/75r16's I had.

Apparently the rim width is a massive massive factor in solid towing. This weekend proved it for me!

Tires and a trip to the body shop today, hopefully it's not to expensive for the body work. The fuel filler still looks intact so hopefully it's just some minor sheet metal work.

Michelin AT2's manufacture date 3808 with 8/32's of tread on them.

The first two estimates to fix it were $2600 and $2800

I would recommend you contact Michelin and discuss your situation. I would take pictures of the tire, the DOT code showing the full set of ID numbers with date code and pictures of the truck damage. 6 year old tires with more than 50% tread should not blow without something else going on. Were you towing? What was the air pressure? Is the tread evenly worn (on the blown tire as well as the other 3?)

The tires were starting to crack that's why I was going to replace them. Fortunately I wasn't towing. The rear tires were at 65 psi the fronts at 60 psi. I've never had a tire go like that. I'm going to assume that isn't normally the way you get a flat.
