429 J has no power at higher Rpm's

This truck starts and sounds goo, out of the hole it is fine, when you get to around 30 MPH it dosent want to climb out of this power band, I split shif the axel, it makes litttle difference. Could it be all the polution stuff on there?

Is it EFI? Could be a lot of things but start with the simple diagnosis stuff and give us a little more info.

Hi, it is EFI. I changed the plugs. wires, cap and rotor. I noticed the coil terminal is pitted, clean though. The plugs were all burning perfectly. Is there something else in the distributer that may need changed?

Sounds like more of a fuel or cat issue. Any other recent changes you have made? Did it run perfect before or..?

Silly me, I found a plug wire had popped off, backfire is gone while shifting, a good bit more power too. Still curious about removing the emissions, thinking this stuff is robbing power. Thanks

Glad you found that. Not sure about the emissions stuff. It would help but not sure how much. Need to worry about that for The DOT? What are you using the truck for?
