Bed liner

Has anyone used a spray in Bed liner or the paint on kind? If so do you like them or dislike them? My truck has no bed liner and I was wondering if that is the best rout to go

I had a spray in bed liner in my first truck, last truck I had a plastic liner and this time I went with a bed rug and tonneau cover. I loved the spray in bed liner over the plastic liner. You can still get to all the tie downs, things don't slide it was great. But with the tonneau cover, I am really liking the bed rug. It makes the bed of the truck like a big trunk.

So I would say for an open bed I would recomend a spray in liner, for a covered bed I would go with the bed rug.

BTW my truck came with a plastic liner and I pulled it out and its sitting in the back yard. I have had it on Craigs list but no one seems to want it.

Yeah I was thinking of going spray in or paint on. I just didn't know if there were any drawbacks to it. If there were any negative affects

I have had 4 different Spay in Bed Liners. Worst one was a brand Called Bullhide. Slick as Snot when it dropped below freezing. I went with a plastic liner for the new truck But I kept the Horse Mats. I tend to toss things in the Bed and the thin sheet metal will ding up just looking at it. $350 for the Ford one was a good deal. Installed with thin rubber mat under the liner as well.

Linex was in two of my trucks and I was happy with it except the dings in the sides.

I'm a fan of LineX. That is what I had in my 06 along with a rubber mat. I wanted to do Bed rug in the 11 but spent too much on Amp steps and Recon junk so I put it off. 3.5 years later I still only have the rubber mat. I don't really see the need for it. Maybe in another year or so I will have it sprayed to hide the scratches and such, but otherwise I don't see much benefit. Spray-ins don't help prevent dents and plastic inserts just all around suck!

BedRug's rubber mat option is probably the best but I'm not sure how that would work with a 5th wheel hitch. Anymore I just feel like all any of the options do is add weight to the truck and mine is heavy enough already!

I know it dosnt prevent dents but I generally go easy putting stuff back there. It just feels like to me the truck dosnt look or feel finished without a bed liner. And I can not stand seeing scratches in the bed.

I have a spray in.Like it alot.Yeah dents still happen. As careful as I am I just made another dent in the bed a week ago.Honestly I think I should just be careless because I seem to mess things up worse by trying to be careful.Never used a bed rug.I have a fiver hitch in bed though.

While I have the factory spray in, I wish I had just left the bed painted and had LineX done. This is my first truck with a spray in liner and it's great, it doesn't save the wheelwells though and mine are smashed up already. It's a truck, oh well. I only favor the LineX because it can be fixed locally, and even the Ford dealer can't seem to come up with a way to fix the factory spray in, which I damaged on the first camping trip.

I do have a 3/8" thick rubber bedmat that I keep in the bed to help protect it further. Depending on what I'm going to do, I either drag it out, or fold it up in front of the gooseneck ball. Haven't cut holes in in so that way if I have dirt/ stone/ mulch in the bed I have a fairly flat surface that the shovel or fork won't catch on.

I've got rhino liner and i hate it, one summer and it looks like crap as far as fading goes.. the guys who did it sprayed over the bed bolts so when i got my 5th wheel installed they had to cut the bolts out to be unscrewed (dealer refunded me the cost of the liner since they handled it for me) lineX has done stuff for me in the past and they have a good product, in any case spray in is the way to go

I've got the LineX and it's great, I'm clumsy and always dropping wrenches, boxes, etc. and it's held up well.

I like the bed rug/mat.. keeps things from sliding, and protects the floor.
removable with you need it to be.

have a liner in the current truck.. hate it.. but it does take up some of the space around the FW hitch rails..

One more for Line-X. The shop did a nice job installing. Tough! Looks nice. Pricey but worth it.

What's the going rate for a 6' bed? If I were to have it professionally done. I was thinking of doing it my self but I wasn't sure if the roll on stuff looks as good or performs as well

LineX varies by market conditions, but I've seen a 6.5' bed with tailgate go for $400-$500 for a standard black. For me, it's been worth every penny. Comparing a LineX to a consumer applied liner is no different than comparing Chevette to a Corvette. They just don't compare, but both will get you from point A to point B if used properly. You can just do a lot more with the Corvette and look good doing it.
