Fuel tank shutoff (manual)

In a previous thread I mentioned my plan to add a fuel shutoff at my fuel tank outlet so I could turn it off rather then draining it when I need to change the fuel filter or work on the fuel pump. Does anyone know where to find one of these? I figured they would be available in autoparts stores or at home depot or at one of the Ford spacialties places but all I have found so far is a small plastic one meant for lawnmower engines.

Any help is appreciated,

use a plumbing ball valve - they make small ones - you can sweat in barbs to load the fuel lines.

Very durable & easy to use.

For some reason I seem to be remembering either Ross or Ax (maybe someone else) posting in a thread I had when I was looking for one of these and they said whatever you do don't use one of those type ball valves. Now don't take my word for it because it's just in a foggy place in my mind....or maybe it's not. lol....maybe one of them will chime in.

I bought a fuel valve through West Marine. It is a ball valve....the housing is all brass. Here's a link: APOLLO VALVES Bronze Ball Valves for Fuel Shut Off | West Marine

Wayne is correct, there are several old threads on the subject, a Search will find them. You want a valve made specifically for fuel use, not water.

NAPA AUTO PARTS - Fuel Shutoff Valve

I believe that has the correct threads for the tank.
