1978 F150 restoration Project for my son
I always loved these trucks as a kid and always wanted one but never got one. leap forward to now and I have a son who has always been a truck kit, loves trucks. So I found this 78 F150 when he was 10 and bought it to build for him as a father/son project, 2 yrs later it's almost finished. below are some pics of the progress.
The motor is a fresh 400M, with a mild "truck" cam, 4 brl intake, Holy 650, headers. it has 3.50 gears now, but with the 35" tires I think I'm going to put some 4.56's with Tru-Track difs to put some pep back in it's step.

That was my hope with doing this project VS buying him a newer truck and saying here you go. He has time invested in helping me doing the mechanical work so he has some skin in the game too. He will get to learn how to drive in it, and I hope he keeps it for ever knowing that I built it for him.

Ohhhh that is a clean looking truck! Your boy is very lucky to be driving that as his first.
I have 4.56 gears and currently 33's(35's very soon). I would go with a taller gear if I were you. It will be revving more than I would like at 70mph, even with 35's.
I would love to see how you did the AC. Did you use a modern compressor or modify the factory one to use new chemicals?

Please post some more of your pics of all the awesome things you've done to it. Maybe start a new thread for each topic, it will be a good reference for those of us that might want to do some of the same things.
