Can you identify these wires?

Hey guys,

Here's a quick backstory:

I bought this truck last week, and it ran fine. Drove it home 30 miles, the next day it had some weird stalling issues at idle (something in the charging system is bad, and the battery kept dying, so i linked it to that), and I limped it through emissions. The battery totally crapped out on me on the way home, so I had the battery charged at Autozone, and went back later that day, put the battery in and she fired right up and drove home. The next morning I went out to start addressing the charging system, cranked the engine but it wouldn't start. I checked for spark first, and bingo- no spark.

here's the whole story on the that:

But anyways, under the hood there's a couple loose wires that are worrying me. maybe you can identify them for me? my truck is a 1986 f150 XLT Lariat fuel injected v8 5.0

picture one-- sorry it's a little dark-- it's a ground wire from the firewall, just to the left of the brake booster. i've grounded it to the top of the intake manifold in the meantime, but it hasn't seemed to have made a difference.

picture two-- this is behind the airbox. it's an orange wire (maybe orange w/black) that's bundled with 4 others that join right there in a 4 to 4 connector.

Thanks guys!

Kyle

The first one looks like Engine-block ground.

Orange wire is your o2 sensor ground. Normally connects to the rear intake manifold bolt. But it makes more sense to connect all the ground wires directly to your negative battery terminal. I'm pretty sure that other black wire is supposed to be case ground for your ECU, but I'll need to look up where it specifically connects.

Check on the passenger side of the engine bay underneath the A/C accumulator for the other end of that black wire.

By the way, any colors besides black on that wire? Does it have a green stripe or green hash marks?
