Hey guys I just picked up an 08' expedition for my wife and the oval has bubbled and faded on the front grill, it looks awful. I thought one of you guys on the superduty side had a good fix for this. I tried serching with no luck, anyone else recall this thread?
Here's my "fix". A new 14 F350 and the oval is hideously big so I taped over it. Ford cant get the ovals and badging right. It's been years now with the front ovals looking like heck but they keep cranking out the SOS.
It's ridiculous that the Ford emblem should be such pour quality, you'd think they would be giving out free replacements. It bugs me to need to buy a Ford emblem that will look like crap in a few years. The Ford emblem on my 89 ranger is the only thing that looks new, its nice and shiny 24 years old..... My 06 f350 Ford emblem looked like crap 4 1/2 years ago when I bought it.
In the UK Ford are giving free replacement ovals, getting one for theback my Transit van, only 2 yea old & looks like crap. The ones on my 2000 SD are good as new!
Same here. My 2000 sd, 98 van, 92 bronco and 91 mustang all have emblems that look brand new, but just about every 05-up sd and 150 I see around here has the ford and fender emblems worn off.
Before the economy crashed , I had over 20 company Super Dutys, all with trashed ovals. I wrote letters to Ford Corporate and complained where I bought the trucks. Its bad Ford doesn't care. If I were GM or Dodge, I would use the fading blue oval as some marketing ploy to their advantage. I guess running up front means your grill "plows the road" of debris for the others….
I finally got around to stripping my oval on the expedition today. A little heat to take off what was left of the clear plastic, some paint stripper, and a little elbow grease and it turned out alright. I used a stainless steel brush to give it sort of a brushed billet look. Looks good except for the big rock chip in the center!
