Please decode my VIN
Last month, I purchased a dent, but due to a screw-up with the transporter, it has yet to be delivered. I'm chomping at the bit for it to actually show up, as I bought it basically sight unseen.
We will soon see if I have bought a gently used survivor, a diamond in the rough or a pig in a poke!
Right now, all I have are a few lousy cell phone pics, and the VIN... X35JKX84860
Will someone decode this for me?
Thanks!
David

I'm so anxious for it to show up, but I was trying to just be patient and quietly wait. Today, I get a call from the transporter asking me if I still intended the truck to be delivered in June! What morons!
It is a California '77 F350 SuperCab XLT Camper Special, brown and white, 94,000 miles, looks to be in pretty good shape. I saw it on Craigslist, and bought it immediately.
I will post a thread with pics when it finally shows up.

Sounds like a heck of a truck. I can't wait to see pics.
I am in the same boat....still waiting for my truck to be delivered. I was gonna drive it home, but a huge blizzard hit 2 mountain passes I had to go over on the same day I bought the truck and I decided against it. It should be delivered to Montana soon. I can't wait to get it and start cleaning her up.
I like the brown and white tu-tones and that thing should be able to haul just about anything. I hope it shows up soon, bud!

X84860 is a 1977.
1977 serial number range: O00,001-O99,999 & X80,001-Z25,000.
You say this is a CA truck, but I wonder how you determined this?
Some people assume this, because it has CA plates and/or they bought it in CA.
But people should not go by this...because usually, there's no way to determine how long it has been in CA
The only way to know is by the DSO code, which is stamped on the 3rd line-far right of the Warranty Plate.
And...do not believe the miles shown on the odometer, as it reads to 99999.9...then returns to ZERO!

I was just going by what the seller said, and where it is located now. I will know for sure (and maybe not even then) only once I have taken possession of this beast.
I know the pitfalls of buying something basically sight unseen, but I also know that sometimes it pays to jump on something and take a chance. This will probably be a fiasco, but hopefully not. Right now, I can hardly stand the suspense of not knowing what is going to show up at my door, or when!
