Water in Fuel (nothing comes out) & Wrench Symbol
Driving home today in a downpour and about three miles from home the "Drain Water/Fuel separator" indication came on. In the pouring rain, I crawled under the truck and flipped the lever - Nothing came out! I stuck a piece of 200lbs monofilament fishing line in the drain hole in case it was plugged with road grime - still nothing came out.
I then restarted the truck to have not only the "Drain Water/Fuel separator" indication come on but now I have the "Wrench" indication!!
I have already called the dealer and will be taking it in tomorrow. I have been buying my fuel at the same BP station for the past 6 years.
Anyone had similar indications or problems?
Thanks in advance,
Tawn

I'm not going to lie...I have not been too religious about it - the "Drain Separator" light has never come one before but I have been very strict about the 10K fuel filter changes.
What has me concerned is that the wrench indication came on after I tried to drain it. The truck has 83K and is stone stock.

you will need the fuel/water separator cleaned out. New fuel filters.
Hope that takes care of it.
Be sure to shine a flashlight in the fuel bowl and check for metal fragments. If present then you will need the fuel system cleaned and probably a new HPFP.
Lesson learned, take care of your fuel system.

Are these the symptoms seen from HPFP problems? What should I expect to hear from the dealer Monday afternoon?
Thanks,

It could just be the sensor but with the wrench light...I just don't know.
I'd have them or you buy a sensor and see if that works. Still need to check that top mounted filter.
May not need to change it but I'd pull it myself and have a look.
Rust or metal and then you are done. Shine a light into the bowl.
