2002 E250 daily driver/camping van... I am not a mechanic, but thought I would share..

I kept hearing a humming,buzzing, whine from the alternator area...

Really only hear it at idle and when I shut down the engine...

I changed out the idler pulley and tensioner pulley... no change

Buddy said the alternator bearings were going out...

I took a piece of hose and put it to my ear and did some poking around... turns out it noise was coming from pass side valve cover... I noticed the PCV valve was making a rattle noise...

quick trip to Oreillys... spent $1.83... installed in the parking lot and NO MORE NOISE!!!!

PCV's can be a mess, creating a ton of problems that sometimes baffle us as to why or how it can be. At $1.83 that's quite an easy and cheap fix---my favorite kind!

I've always paid about $10 each though----NAPA or Motorcraft.
