Having my driveshaft rebuilt and replacing the rear output shaft and seal on my '02 F350 4x4. Transfer case is a NV271F and I don't have a socket large enough to fit the output shaft nut. Before I bomb down to the store to pick up a few different sizes, anybody know what size it is?

I think it's 38mm based on an eyeballed measurement with a steel ruler, but would like to be sure before I drop $ on sockets.

FWIW it's a 38mm and it'll pop loose with a stiff tug on a breaker bar.

Pulling the flange will require a puller and in my case, a couple sharp blows on the flange face with a brass hammer.

Took all of 15 minutes to replace the flange and seal.

Precisely why I did. Pet peeve of mine is "open-ended" threads with no resolution...
