Clearance Lights and a few other mods

Hey All,

I recently purchased a 2014 f250 6.7L and unfortunately, it didn't come with roof clearance lights. So, I went down to my local auto sport guy who has done tinting for me in the past and asked him how much it would cost for lights and install. I have absolutely no experience as to how to do this on my own and I am terrified to drill holes into the roof of my truck. He quoted me 100$ for the recon orange lights and a whopping $450 for labor. I told him I'll have to sleep on it.

Through my experience the dealerships always charge more for labor than any where else I've gone. But, i thought I'd ask them the same question. Surprisingly enough they quoted me 27$ per light x5 and $266 for labor. so I'm looking at about $400. So $100 cheaper. Does either of these seem legit to you guys.

I am also thinking about putting a 3" suspension lift with 22" wheels and 35" tires. For the lift I was offered this as an option: 3in Series II Suspension Lift Kit for 11-14 Ford 4wd F-250 Super Duty | Rough Country Suspension Systems

Will I need a steering stabilizer for this. Do you guys have any opinions or suggestions on this. Any info will be a great help. Thanks in advance

No advice on the quotes but the clearance lights are a must. It sounds a little expensive for the work involved.

While my truck is nowhere near new, I did it myself and it really is cake. I'd probably still do it myself on a new truck.

I would be careful with such a big rim. Make sure it will hold at least your rear GVW otherwise you're taking your big bad super duty and making it a half ton or even less. I know there are plenty of 20" rims available if you want the big rim.

As far as the stabilizers, General rule of thumb is below 35" 1. 35+ dual.

You can always get recon caps and LED bulbs for the factory clearance lights like I did. Or you could get a set of atomics but a dealer may not install them.

Post up pictures!

when I was looking to have someone put my Atomic LED clearance lights on I was told by my dealer that they wouldn't do it. so I called a few places and found a guy that said he could do it for $250... I did it myself. it is really easy and I know it was done correctly and sealed. There is a ton of info on here and the internet about how and exactly where to drill holes. If your close to Oklahoma City I'd help you.

Clearance lights are definitely a must! I should probably just buy some tools and do some research on it. It'd probably still be cheaper to buy tools and do it myself.

02TB250- thanks man, I was unaware that the wheel size good change the towing capacity completely.

Bsipes30- wish I could take you up on your offer. Unfortunately, I'm on the East Coast in North Carolina.

As far as the Lift is concerned, you think springs are the best way to go?

Thanks Gentleman!
