Rad hose replacement

My buddy with a 2001, 7.3, F350, went to our local Ford parts dept. ordered the lower rad hose. When it arrived the clamps for the hose weren't there. They tried to sell him a couple of worm gear clamps. They said that they do not com with the clamps already attached. I found this to be false. Has anyone ever heard of this (worm clamps on the rad hoses)?

Anybody else? When did they delete if they did? I go to Ford for OEM and am told to put a (made in China) work gear clamp, does will only hold 8 to 10NM, max. As the hose gets compressed it looses some of it elasticity, So over time the the toque will be lost. By using the self compression clamp. You will always have a clamping load. Am I wrong in thinking this way?

You are correct, but I have been using Breeze hose clamps with great results. We have not had a single problem since we started using them about 1 1/2 year ago.

http://www.breezehoseclamps.com/breeze/mini/ I think these are the ones we have been using. May be the hi torque for the larger sizes.

We use 10-20 clamps a week with no problems. A lot better than I can say about the china clamps, they tend to start leaking after 2-4 months.

I'm sure what your post said was important, but I can't stop staring at your avatar.

At our local dealership, Bolton Ford, they always come with the spring clamps! Even the little hoses.

Bolton Ford... You must be near Lake Charles. I grew up in DeRidder. Nice to see someone from home....

I replace all my clamps with worm drive and I buy Gates hoses from Napa. Cheaper all around and work great.

Not sure if I need to start a new thread, but my buddys truck (same truck f350) may have a steering issue. We just finished flushing the power steering Fluid (Mobil 1 ATF syth.). We did this because of the issue I am describing here.

Sometimes, not all the time. On a left or right turn the steering seem to lock up or have heavy resistance and sometimes with a clunk. We cannot reproduce it when we want it to. Just comes and goes. The power steering pump has been making a squeaking sound for the past year (it came and went) but now it squeaks all the time (not very loud). Is there a simple way to see if its the pump or the steering box itself?

Any suggestions would help diagnose the problem. We are at a loss here.

Could it be that air somehow is getting into the system? Just a thought.
