400 M block motor

Hey I am looking at buying a 79 F150 with a 400 small block in it. It has a C6 transmission and a four barrel Holley carb on it. It is only a two wheel drive. I was wondering if I bought this truck, what could I expect for MPG? Thanks

Depends on how well it is tuned. My stock '78 4x4 with a 400 and factory 2-barrel would get 12mpg or so city.

After it was a fairly modified 408 it was lucky to get 6mpg city. I think it got about 14mpg hwy both ways. Damn did it run though.

A 400 is a 335 series motor or Cleveland. It isn't a small block or an "M"

A 351 M was called such because it was a modified 400 for the 351 CI stroke.
