NP 435 gearing

Hi guys
I recently switched a newer 435 into my '74.
I was aware that there were different 1st gear ratios and hoped.
It feels like the new 1st gear is not as low as my last 435, it's much more usable.
I know there was a Dodge 435 that had a 1st gear of 4.28 IIRC.
Also know that most Fords had a 6.68/9 1st gear.
I purchased the new tranny out of an '87 Bronco in NorCal. I do not know if it was original to the Bronco.
I can't find any docs about the Bronco's coming with a higher 1st.
All I can say is I love it.
Anybody have a reference or knowledge of such? Or am I full of prunes?
Thanks

Thanks, I found that one also.
I wondered where he got his info, and I wonder what the close ratio set came in.
If we could pinpoint what it came in, it would be a useful resource.

Well,,, I am pretty sure you are full of "something" regardless!!!

I have this site bookmarked or favorited or something

The New Process 435 Transmission - Novak Conversions

How about 4.56 for first,,, and second and third are better also.

I'm pretty sure you're right about that.

This is why I'm a bit confused. From what I can see/read is that the different ratios are Dodge/GM.
So if I think I have one, it came from a Bronco according to the PO. So, is the only difference between the applications a different tail section? I don't think so because the input should be different as well as the tail.
This all makes me think I'm full of......you know what.

I was under the impression that the 6.68 first was by FAR the most common trans. Other than that, I don't really have much value to add to this thread I thought all fords were the same except for the rarer higher first gear ratio.

That's what I'm wondering Ted.
Is there a way to pinpoint how to find the rare gearing?
I would assume the number on the tag would indicate it, but haven't found any info.

Hmmm. That I don't know. It would seem there had to be some way for people to know which trans they had when they were assembling vehicles
